FORMER Ohangwena Regional Governor, Usko Nghaamwa has once again come to the assistance of Omungwelume Secondary School by donating 50 400 super bricks for the hostel construction project on Wednesday.
The bricks that are valued at N$195 000 will be used for the construction of the hostel’s dining hall.
Nghaamwa along with the school principal George Nanghanda initiated the school hostel project back in 2017. The project was prompted by the harsh living conditions endured by the learners.
The learners from the school that comes from far-away, suffered hardship of finding proper accommodation at the Omungwelume village.
The lack of school hostel accommodation is said to have resulted in learners renting expensive private rooms and some allegedly using car wrecks for shelter.
Nghaamwa previously donated 58 500 super bricks to help start the hostel construction which is almost completed at this stage.
He also gave N$400 000, an ox worth N$14 000, and 30 bags of mahangu to the school.
Nghaamwa revealed that Omungwelume is his number one priority on his list of assistance, while Ondobe School comes in second.
“I still have funds that I want to assist when it comes to education,” he said, adding that he is thankful for the assistance given to individuals and parents.
School principal Nanghanda, said thus far the hostel dormitories have been completed with only the sewage line, dining hall, and laundry area that have to be completed.
The school hostel once completed will accommodate at least 200 girls and boys.
