THE three-year-old Daniel Kalipa, a child of Angolan refugees residing in the Osire Camp, died after a wall of their clay house collapsed.
The spokesperson for the Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha confirmed the tragic incident that happened on Wednesday morning around 02:00.
The house was situated in Block 8 in the refugee camp.
According to Inspector Mbeha, the area recently received a lot of rain and it is believed that the wall became unstable as a result of the moisture.
“The little boy and his mother were sleeping inside the house when the incident occurred. The child sustained multiple head injuries and died while on his way to the hospital at Otjiwarongo. The boy’s mother did not sustain any injuries,” she said.
Inspector Mbeha said that the little boy was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
