Youth have to empower themselves

WHEN it comes to youth development, Omaruru has been left behind and that has led to a spike in alcohol abuse and early teenage pregnancies.

 

Regional councillor, Ernst Weather said his office is pursuing the realization of a vocational training centre and pushing for SME development.

 

Weather reiterated that his office is able to source funding for developmental projects, the constituency councillor advice the youth to bring proposals benefiting as many people as possible.

 

Omaruru Constituency Youth Forum hosted a public youth information meeting that also the presence of the Omaruru Constituency Councilor and the town’s Mayor Roger Nautoro. The open meeting also saw adults representing stakeholders dealing with youth matters openly touch on several youth challenges and opportunities.

 

Nautoro said the meeting ended with a good resolution by the youth, constituency office, and office of the mayor to host a massive clean-up of the town on Saturday, 6 March starting Ozondje Taxi rank from 6:00 am. The cleanup campaign intends to robe in other community stakeholders.

 

The platform provided for frank discussion touching base on public and private partnerships, housing, employment, Youth Office, municipal clientele care, town’s cleanliness, volunteerism, and equipment funding among others.

 

The meeting ended with diverse hits as to the vast opportunities available if only the youth would take charge and initiate innovative ventures.

 

Nautoro looked at a number of burning issues while still laying the ball in the youths’ hands to be the solutions to their challenges.
