A CHINESE shop at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region was targeted by armed robbers this morning who managed to walk away with N$155 000 in cash.
According to the police, three suspects entered the shop shortly after 08:00 and used a pistol to threaten the shop owner and the assistants.
Inspector Abner Kaume Itumba said that three suspects entered the shop while their getaway vehicle – a silver Toyota RunX with a false number plate – was parked nearby.
“It is not yet clear whether they were only three, or there were others waiting outside,” said Itumba.
He said that the police is investigating the matter, including analyzing the CCTV images for a possible identification of the suspects.
Despite repeated warnings by the police, Chinese shop owners maintain the habit of keeping huge amounts of money at their shops, making themselves vulnerable to the robbers.
