EMPLOYEES of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) today took to the streets in a peaceful demonstration to demand for salary increments and backpay.
The decision to demonstrate comes after the NBC management and the Namibian Public Workers Union (NAPWU) failed to reach consensus on the appropriate salary increase amounts.
The employees this morning gathered at the company’s offices to express their dissatisfaction.
They wanted to hand over their petition to the Board of Directors, but since there was no board member to receive them, the staff members decided against giving it to Stanley Similo, the NBC Director General.
The NBC workers have since instructed NAPWU to reject the company’s offer and to declare a dispute.
The demonstration will continue on Monday.
