ONE person died on the spot and five others survived with various degrees of injuries early this morning on the B1 Road, some 18km south of Otjiwarongo.
Otjozondjupa police spokesperson, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, said the accident occurred when a truck belonging to the Namibian newspaper collided head-on with a Mazda sedan around 00h40.
It is alleged that the driver of a Mazda, with a registration number AAD6469, silver in colour, drove into the lane of the oncoming vehicle and collided head-on with the Iveco truck with a registration number News 21NA.
“It is not established whether this driver was overtaking another car, or he only lost control over it,” Mbeha said.
The next of kin have not yet been notified, hence the name of the deceased from the Mazda cannot be published yet.
