The sudden and severe increase of New COVID-19 cases in Namibia is threatening to overrun the available laboratory facilities in the country.
At the same time, the laboratories of PathCare have been inundated with people who need to be tested because they plan to travel beyond Namibia’s borders for the Festive Season.
In this regard, PathCare Namibia has announced that due to the high demand from Namibian health authorities only a limited number of prospective travellers will be tested per day.
The laboratory network announced that it will only be able to swab 150 prospective travellers in Windhoek, 50 in Swakopmund, 50 in Walvis Bay, 30 in Ongwediva, and 20 in Otjiwarongo besides the normal testing of people presenting with COVID-19 symptoms.
