Harley rider face charges of reckless driving

A 41-year-old man from Walvis Bay was seriously injured after he crashed his Harley Davidson motorcycle into a vehicle that was parked in front of the Casa Mia Hotel.


According to the incident report provided by the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region, the incident occurred in Sam Nujoma Avenue at about 00:15 on Friday morning.

The incident report states that the rider lost control over his motorcycle and drove into the stationary vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo.


“The impact caused the motorcycle to burst out into flames. Besides the damage from the impact the fire that broke out caused further damage to the car,” the report reads.


The rider, who was alone on the bike, sustained a fractured upper right leg and was rushed to the Welwitschia Private Hospital in Walvis Bay for medical treatment. The extent of the injury was such that the man was transferred to a private hospital in Windhoek where emergency surgery was performed to save his leg.
