A MAN suspected of being a poacher, 27-year-old Claudius Hameva, was fatally shot at a game farm around Okakarara earlier this morning following a scuffle between him and the farm’s security guard.
The group of four men from Okahandja were reportedly with hunting dogs, spears and knives when they entered the Hamakari farm.
According to the police, the group’s intention was to poach the wild animals on the private farm.
When the group was spotted on the farm by a security guard, who has since been charged with murder, they were reportedly instructed to leave, but a confrontation between the suspicious men and security guard instead erupted.
During the confrontation, the security guard fired a shot in the men’s direction, hitting Hameva in the chest.
