THE Namibian police in the Omusati region are on the hunt for a man who allegedly chased a 12-year-old girl into a Mahangu field before raping her.
The incident is one of the three cases of rape reported over the past weekend in the serious crime bulletin provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police.
According to Nampol, the incident of child rape occurred in Oshikuku on Friday, 20 November 2020 at about 16:00, at the Onoolongo village.
It is alleged that an adult male suspect found a 12-year-old girl alone at the house in the kitchen and removed her trousers by force. The victim managed to run out of the house for safety but the suspect chased her into a Mahangu field where he kicked her down.
He then removed his trouser and raped the little girl.
The suspect ran away and is yet to be arrested as he.
In another incident of rape registered in Omuthiya on Friday, it alleged that a man from the Omboto Village collected his 39-year-old victim from a neighbour’s house before taking her to his mother’s house during the afternoon.
According to the incident report, the suspect then pulled the woman, who is reportedly mentally challenged, into one of the bedrooms where he raped her.
The suspect was caught in the act when the victim’s mother returned home from collecting water at the communal well. The suspect ran away after being confronted and is not yet arrested.
The third incident that was registered in Namibia occurred on Friday after an unknown suspect entered the bedroom of a 17-year-old girl at a house in Rundu while she was asleep.
The girl was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was unable to defend herself against the man when he raped her.
The suspect is unknown and no arrest has been made.
A case of attempted rape of a toddler was reported in Aranos.
According to the crime bulletin, the incident occurred on Friday at around 19h00 in Vaalpos location of Aranos.
It is alleged that a 24-year-old suspect lured a four-year-old girl into the deserted cooking area of the house and attempted to molest her, but she was rescued by a family member who followed them in.
She found the suspect busy undressing while the toddler’s pants were already pulled down.
The incident was reported to the police and the victim was examined at the hospital but no signs of penetration were found.
The suspect was arrested.
