THE Namibian Police needs the help of the public to identify a man that died in the Katutura State Hospital after he was shot during a robbery incident earlier this week.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police, the man that was fatally wounded and another man robbed a security guard who was on duty.
The incident occurred at an open yard in Kandorovazu Street in the Donkerhoek area of Katutura at around 03:00 on Wednesday morning.
According to the incident report, the deceased person and another man held an on-duty security guard at gunpoint and robbed him of his mobile phone. A struggle ensued and another security guard shot at the assailants.
Both of the armed robbers were able to flee from the scene but the one that sustained a gunshot wound was taken to the Katutura State Hospital where passed away a short while later.
The deceased armed robber did not have any identification documents with him and, at this stage, can only be identified by the clothes he wore when he was admitted to the hospital.
The Namibian Police requested any person that recognises any of the clothes (pictured below) to come forward and identify the deceased person. Any person who might shed more light on who the second armed robber could be is also requested to come forward.
Members of the public are requested to contact Detective Chief Inspector Nghilaluwa at 081 256 0988, Detective Warrant Officer Erastus at 081 251 0036, or the nearest Police Station at 10111.
