A 23-year-old woman died on the spot when she was hit with a wooden object over the head by a neighbour who reportedly accused her of witchcraft.
The incident, which ended in the arrest of a 34-year-old male suspect, occurred on Wednesday at the Goreangab dam residential area around 22:00.
Chief inspector Elifas Kuwinga, Head of the Media Relations Sub-Division, confirmed the incident and said that the assailant and the deceased were neighbours and had a heated argument on the night in question.
The 34-year-old male suspect allegedly accused the woman of being a witch, claiming that she changes into a dog.
Kawinga noted that the suspect was arrest after the murder weapon was found at his home.
Community leader in the area, Andreas Sitemo, said that the suspect is mentally ill and had been arrested twice before, but that he always ends up being released due to his mental condition.
Sitemo added that the victim was unemployed and that as a community, they have to help her family raise funds for her burial.
