NOTHING will keep the 21-year-old Tryagain Ndevelo, a boxer from the Ohangwena Region, from putting Namibia on the international sporting map and to realise his dream of representing the country at next year’s Olympic Games.
Ndevelo is one of the three boxers that will now represent Namibia at the Olympics Games which are scheduled to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo.
Speaking to Informantè after his dazzling performance against the Oshana region’s Jackson Prince during a boxing bonanza held at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati on Saturday evening, Ndevelo stated that he is now, more than ever, ready to fly the Namibian flag high.
“It is an honour to be part of the team going to represent the country at the Olympics. I have been waiting for this chance for long,” he said.
He stated that he believes that everything will work in his favour as the aim is to bring good results back home.
“All I expect from the nation is their support and prayers in order to achieve my dream of bringing an Olympic gold medal back home,” Ndevelo said.
Two other boxers that qualified for the coveted spot in the team that will represent Namibia come from Erongo and Oshana regions.
The three athletes are expected to travel to Belarus in Eastern Europe on 16 November to prepare for the Olympic Games.
