A MOTHER of two last night tragically lost her life at the hands of her children’s father, who shot and killed himself after.
The incident, according to Nampol, occurred at Windhoek’s Ombili informal settlement.
The man, identified as 39-year-old Martin Mupopiwa, reportedly followed his girlfriend, Ndapewa Moses, and demanding that she returns to their shack.
It is further reported that she left their shack in Okahandja Park and went to her family’s home.
After refusing to leave her family home, Mupopiwa fatally shot her, before turning the gun on himself.
The murder-turned-suicide comes barely a week after national protests against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and femicide in the country.
The protests, spearheaded by the youth, called on the strengthening of and harsher sentences for perpetrators of violence, as well as a sex offenders’ registry, amongst others things.
Some of the organisers last week Friday met with President Hage Geingob to discuss government’s efforts in curbing SGBV and femicide.
