THE 19-year-old Johannes Frederick Mwakoleka, died after he was stabbed by a 24-year-old cattle herder at Ombonde yaHango cattle post in the Onamatanga area on Thursday evening.
Omusati Regional Police Commander Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the attack occurred at approximately 22:50 in the village near Ruacana.
“The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Shikongo.
According to Shikongo, the deceased and suspect were both cattle herders. The duo got involved in a fight while on their way from the Onamatanga location cuca shops. The reason for the fight is not yet known.
“It is further indicated that when they reached the cattle post, the suspect went into a house where he picked up a knife and stabbed the victim once on the left side of the chest,” he noted.
In related news, a 40-year-old has been arrested after he stabbed the 43-year-old Absalom Lucas to death at the VIP location of the Iikokola village in the area of Tsandi.
“The suspect and deceased were involved in a physical fight when the suspect used a knife to stab the victim in the neck,” said Shikongo.
Shikongo pointed out that the deceased sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tsandi District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
According to Shikongo the suspects in both cases of murder have been arrested and are due to appear before Okahao Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
