A PEDESTRIAN died instantly and the three occupants of a vehicle belonging to an undertaker that bumped the victim were injured and admitted to the Oshakati hospital.
The incident occurred on Friday evening on the main road between Oshakati and Omungwelume in the vicinity of the Onanime Village.
According to Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police, the accident happened at around 18:00 when a white Toyota GD6 pickup (N35002SH) of the Namibia Funeral Services company struck the mentally disturbed Antsino Natanael (43) who “just entered the road”.
The relatives of the deceased have confirmed that Antsino was mentally disturbed and, as proof, provided his medical report to the police.
The occupants of the vehicle were two employees of the funeral undertaker and an off duty policeman. All three are being treated for injuries at the Oshakati hospital.
As a result of the fatality case of culpable homicide and negligent driving was registered against the driver.
