THE 30-year-old Cameron Britz, who works at a bank in Windhoek, was killed in a car crash that occurred on the B1 Road between Windhoek and Okahandja on Sunday night.
The young man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf GTi at the time of the crash, died instantly after he hit a barrier next to the road at a very high speed.
The car, with the driver inside, was flung into the air and into a dry river bed that passes under the road. The force of the impact caused the engine of the car to be ripped from its mountings. Both the car and the engine struck the sidewall of the culvert passing under the road.
The force of the impact against the wall flattened the Golf and the engine left a big black oil mark where it was fragmented against the concrete.
