THE clinic at the Ombili informal settlement in Otjiwarongo has been upgraded to render all services its residents, except those on the antiretroviral (ARV) treatment.
Otjozondjupa Regional Health Director, Gebharto Timotheus, said the clinic was initially used as a Tuberculosis (TB) direct observation treatment centre, but that it has since been upgraded to allow for more services.
“It was frustrating because the residents had to travel long distances to the Otjiwarongo clinic for services which are now available at the Ombili clinic,” said Timotheus.
The clinic was constructed in 2014 and previously provided TB related services to nearly 5 000 residents at the Ombilli settlement.
The clinic will cater to residents of the old and new Ombili, as well as part of the Tsaraxa-Aibes informal settlement.
