TWO men have been arrested and are facing the full wrath of the law, after it emerged that they, in separate incidences allegedly distributed explicit videos, exposing the identity of their female partners.
In the first incident, Esko Mumbala, a 26-year-old man was arrested at Ondangwa and appeared in court on a charge of contravening the Communications Act as well as a charge of defamation of character.
He has been denied bail and will return to court again in November. The matter was postponed for further investigation to be conducted.
The victim in that matter said Mumbala has been threatening to destroy her life. At one point, according to her, he demanded that she pays him an amount of N$15 000, or else he would leak a sex video they made.
The victim did not comply with Mumbala’s demands and the video clip went viral in Namibia.
In another incident that recently occurred, the victim is a minor girl.
According to a social justice movement, Monica Gender Violence Solution, the suspect in that incident has also been apprehended and will appear in court. The video was allegedly posted on a porn website, the said perpetrator.
“We are also currently busy collecting information of people who are circulating the graphic video, with intentions to humiliate, tarnish and shame the victim, who is a minor. Cases will be opened against them. This victim is a minor and by sharing the video, you are violating her rights,” a statement from the movement reads.
