Olunghono residents forced to improvise

Nathanael Heita

THE residents of the Okatwitwi area at Oshikango who were recently relocated to a new informal settlement at Olunghono, found themselves without a reliable source of water.

While waiting for the Helao Nafidi town council to deliver on its promise to provide potable water, the residents came up with their own temporary solution. They were forced to dig a well.

They cordoned it off with tree branches to keep stray animals away.

Residents have also started digging trenches for a water pipeline instead of waiting for the town council to provide basic services.

“The town has promised to service the area. We do not doubt them, but who knows when this will happen” said one resident, Linea Nakale.
