MEMBERS of the Onandjaba Police Station arrived at the Oushwa Roman Catholic Church this morning to remove congregants from the premises after the church failed to comply with State of Emergency Regulations.
President Hage Geingob last week announced that the country will revert back to stage 3 of lockdown, which includes gatherings of no more than ten people.
Omusati Regional Police Commander Commissioner, Commissioner Titus Shikongo, said that during a police patrol held on Sunday, they found more than ten people attending the service.
“The church leaders were seriously warned and people told to leave the church,” said Shikongo.
Shikongo, however, indicated that in general most people are adhering to the set regulations.
He pointed out that weddings are a particular challenge with the maximum number of 10 people, but that most are using register books, water and hand sanitizers as is required.
