RESIDENTS of Ongwediva’s New Reception 3 will receive free sewer connection for a period of five months.
Town Mayor Angelina Angula, said that the free household connections for sewerage at New Reception 3 will start this month and is expected to conclude on the 29 January 2021.
Angula pointed that in the past the Council used to charge an amount of N$2 169.68 for the connection from a household to the sewerage pipeline.
During the 2019/2020 financial year, Council took a deliberate decision to dedicate an amount of N$2.5 million towards the provision of sewerage reticulation at the New Reception 3.

Angula cited that residents should not construed the connection as free services and they are expecting residents to honour their monthly municipal bill so that Council can function and continue to provide much needed Municipal services across the town.
“As per the scope of work, manholes have been constructed, pipelines are installed and the system is functional, ready to accommodate all 113 erven in this area,” she said.
According to Angula, all connections are subjected to normal Council approval procedures and council has also aligned itself not to increase tariff this financial year owing the situation of COVID-19.
Angula indicated that the project is part of Council’s effort to ensure the provision of quality services to the residents of Ongwediva Town, particularly in the informal settlements where their attention is directed at the moment.
