AN overwhelming number of people this morning showed up at the Windhoek Central Police Station seeking emergency travel permits.
This follows an announcement by President Hage Geingob at the start of the week declaring a lockdown for Windhoek, Rehoboth and Okahandja, along with Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis.
The decision to revert back to Stage 3 of lockdown was necessitated by the growing number of people in the Capital testing daily positive with COVID-19.
A grade 12 learner from Etosha Secondary School in Tsumeb said she has been at the police station since yesterday, seeking a travel permit as she needs to go write her examinations on Monday.
Among those in front of the police station this morning, were essential workers such as medical doctors who are complaining that they need to travel to the north to attend to their patients.
