THE 41-year-old likuwa Mikimba Imms was arrested in Uis after he allegedly assaulted and raped his friend on a soccer pitch of the small mining town.
According to an incident report provided by the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the incident occurred on Monday evening at around 21:00.
“The suspect and the victim were drinking together at a house in Uis when the suspect asked the victim to follow him to another place where they would have continued with their party. When they reached the soccer pitch they continued drinking and after a while that suspect demanded to have sex with the victim,” Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said in the report.
According to the senior detective the victim refused to engage in sexual intercourse with the suspect.
“The suspect got angry and overpowered the younger man. He then had sex with the victim,” he said.
According to Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu the victim sustained serious injuries to his head and his genitals and was taken for treatment at the local clinic and was discharged shortly afterwards.
Imms made his first appearance on charges of rape and assault in the Omaruru Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
In a separate incident, the police at Walvis Bay have arrested the 21-year-old Elvernon Vallentyn, for the attempted rape of a 54-year-old woman on Saturday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu’s report the two people were drinking at the victim’s house in Kuisebmond where the incident occurred.
“The victim sent the suspect to buy more alcohol and when he was gone for too long she fell asleep. When she woke up the suspect was naked and on top of her,” he said.
The suspect allegedly then ran away after the woman confronted him about his actions.
Vallentyn was arrested and made his first appearance on the charge of attempted rape in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court.
