THE Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa this week revealed that out of 153 government projects, only 56 have been completed, while 43 of the said projects have been abandoned.
These projects were initiated from 2012 to 2014 through the now repealed Tender Board of Namibia Act of 1996.
Contracts were ostensibly awarded to contractors who signed building contracts with the Ministry of Works and Transport to execute 153 government projects under the professional supervision of the works ministry engineers.
Mutorwa stated that this is a very serious situation and all true, honest and factual reasons must be obtained as a matter of extreme urgency.
He added that all persons, contracts, engineers, ministry of works officials and respective OMAs must account.
“Through the Executive Director, the works minister will procure written progress reports on the basis of critical verifiable information as obtained from EDs not later than 30 August 2020,” said Mutorwa.
