THE 46-year-old Vaakohambo Johannes, has been granted bail after appearing on a charge of rape.
Johannes was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly raped a 27-year-old woman.
The Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo, said the incident occurred on Sunday at around 22:00 at Uudhiya location of the Iishanaputa village near Outapi.
“It is alleged that the suspect found the victim in her room, he then demanded to have sex with her. She objected but he then forcibly held her arms, undressed her and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” he said.
Shikongo indicated that Johannes appeared before Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was granted bail of N$1 500.
“No case of Domestic Violence was registered,” he said, adding that the case was postponed to the 19 November 2020 for further police investigation.
