No bail for Esau and Fitty

No bail for Esau and Fitty

Staff Reporter

THE continuous granting of bail to people accused in so-called white collar crimes is eroding the public faith in the justice system.

Magistrate Eduard Kesslau found in his judgement that the granting of bail to former fisheries minister Bernhard Esau and his son-in-law, Tamson ‘Fitty’ Hatuikulipi will not be in the interest of the public.

The magistrate also found that the applicants have a strong case to answer.

The formal bail application of Esau and Hatuikulipi was deferred and the applicants were remanded in custody.
