A Gobabis man will have to face the law in court after he was caught in the act of raping a woman who he encountered in the Nossobville location over the past weekend.
According to the serious crime report provided by the Namibian Police, the incident occurred on Friday in the bushes next to Nossobville location.
The victim’s brother accompanied by her boyfriend came upon the suspect while he was busy raping the victim. He fled the scene but the duo chased after him, caught him and called the police. The 29-years-old suspect was then arrested.
It is alleged that the 30-year-old victim was on her way to her residential plot in Witpan and whilst walking she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man who ordered her to go with him to his house and after she refused, he dragged her into the nearby bushes, pushed her on the ground, undressed her and forcefully had unprotected sexual intercourse with the victim.
Two more rape cases and one case of attempted rape were also reported over the past weekend.
On Friday at 18: 00 at the Etomba village, it is alleged that the 19-year-old girl that was on her way home when she met an unknown man standing in the road talking on the phone. The suspect then grabbed the victim by her arm, pulled her into the bushes and had sexual intercourse with her by force. No arrest was made yet.
In another incident at around 13:00 on Friday at the Cwa inland village, Kavango East Region, it is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with a 34-year-old female without her consent. The suspect, a 48-year-old man was arrested.
A case of attempted rape was also registered in Katima Mulilo on Friday night. The incident occurred in the Liselo area.
It is alleged that the suspect pulled a 16-year-old girl from her parents’ house and threatened to stab her with a knife if she refuses to have sexual intercourse with him.
The 28-year-old suspect was arrested and already made his first appearance on a charge of attempted rape.
