THERE is an urgent need to boost economic activities in order to strengthen businesses that pay tax which, in turn, enables Government to render essential services and develop the country.
Oshana Regional Governor, Elia Irimari while addressing a consultative session on fast-tracking capital programmes provided for under the 2020/21 financial year, he pointed out that various public sector entities in the region were allocated N$243,797 million as development budget for the financial year 2020/21.
He said that the funds will have a great developmental impact on the region and yield sustainable results and benefits for needy communities.
“As regional leadership, it is upon us now to provide our undivided attention and support to the implementers to make sure all these funds are fully utilized to the benefit of our communities and no penny should be returned to Treasury come end the financial year,” he said.
He indicated that efforts in this endeavour will assist the government to stimulate economic activities in the region and thereby support the businesses to recover from the adverse impact of COVID-19.
Irimari urged people to put at good use the little resources aimed at funding the infrastructure development in order to yield the desired value for their communities.
“It is through the regional leadership’s hands-on constant support that the development programmes and project implementers will be able to execute it smoothly and on time,” he concluded.
