PRESIDENT Hage Geingob joined scores of leaders from around the world in sending a message of condolences to the Mandela family and the people of South Africa after the passing of Ambassador Zindziwa Mandela.
Dr. Geingob in his message said Zindzi, who was 59, was a fearless political activist who championed the release of her father, Nelson Mandela, from incarceration on Robben Island.
“We will remember her as a top cadre of the liberation movement. May she rest in peace,” he said.
Mandela, who has been serving as South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark since 2015, died in a hospital in Johannesburg on Sunday evening. No other details surrounding her passing were made public.
The Mandela Legacy Foundation, speaking on behalf of the Mandela family, said arrangements for memorial and funeral services for Zindzi Mandela would be announced during the course of this week.
