THE lull in daily vehicle traffic while travel from region to region was restricted under the State of Emergency in Namibia allowed grader operators and contractors to catch up on some much needed road maintenance and repair work.
The lonely but persistent work performed by individual grader operators across Namibia means that motorists will be able to travel on gravel roads that are in a much better condition than before the lockdown.
During a quick return trip between Walvis Bay and Solitaire, no less than three grader operators were spotted by Informanté while hard at work. A team of contractors was also seen doing maintenance work on the short stretches of bitumen road that wind through the ‘Valley of a Thousand Hills’, the Kuiseb and Gaub River canyons.
The hard work resulted in a C14 Road that is currently in a good condition where motorists can look forward to a pleasant drive when travelling to and from remote spots in south western Namibia
The C14 Road between Walvis Bay at the coast and Goageb in the south is one of the main arteries along which tourists travel to reach some of the most spectacular tourist destinations the country has to offer such as the Fish River Canyon, the Sesriem Canyon and the giant sand dunes at Sossusvlei.
