THE Erongo Region bolstered the national campaign to combat COVID-19 by availing a second toll free helpline that could be used by people that are in need of medical help or vital health information regarding infection with the new coronavirus.
Neville Andre the Erongo Regional Governor presented the new 0800 064 064 toll free helpline at a special meeting held in Swakopmund and pointed out that the number would be easy to remember because the key to the new toll free number is the 064 area code for telephone numbers of towns of the Region.
“People in need of help will not need any credit on their phones to call the number. Operators will man the lines 24 hours per day to provide help and health information to people,” Governor Andre said.

He urged residents of the region to make use of the 0800 064 064 toll free helpline at any time and said that it will work exactly the same as the national 0800 100 100 COVID-19 number.
“The reason for establishing a toll free helpline for the Erongo Region is to lighten the burden and assist central government to field the large number of calls to the national number. It would also enable residents of the Erongo Region to find help much quicker,” he said.
To demonstrate the immediate availability and function of the number Governor Andre called the new 0800 064 064 toll free number from his mobile phone.
