Another child drowns in the North

THE ten-year-old Jensen Etuna Emvula, a deaf and physically challenged boy, drowned in a river channel of an oshana at the Oshamale Villagein the vicinity of Oshakati East while attempting to cross the body of water.


Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police’s Public Relation Division in the Oshana Region confirmed the death of the young boy and said the incident occurred on Friday at around 10:30. He said two other minor children who accompanied the victim survived after they managed to get to the safety of shallower water.


“It is alleged that the deceased was trying to cross the water pan when he drowned,” said Aiyambo.

The Namibian Police in the Oshana Region has registered an inquest not the tragic death of the boy after his body was recovered from the oshana on Friday.


Aiyambo stated that the next of kin has been informed and that the investigation into the matter will continue.


The young Emvula is the fourth child that drowned in the north over the weekend.
