THE Electoral Commission of Namibia announced that the announcement of the final results of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections will be delayed until later on Saturday morning.
According to a statement issued by the ECN’s Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer, Theo Mujoro, the delay in the final announcement of the election results of the ongoing collation of constituency results could not be finalized on Friday evening as expected due to unexpected connectivity problems in certain constituencies relating to the transmission of election results.
Mujoro said the constituencies affected by the connectivity problems are Opuuo Rural, Etayi, Ogongo Ondobe, Eengodi, Moses Garoeb, Windhoe West and Windhoek East.
“In terms of the electoral system applicable in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, every vote counts and every vote must be accounted for. The ECN is working closely with polling officials in the respective constituencies to resolve the issues.”
Mujoro again urged the public to view the provisional election results on the ECN’s online platforms until such time when the final results are announced.
