THE well-publicized rally of the Landless People’s Movement’s (LPM) which was scheduled to take place Monday evening at Oniipa in the Oshikoto Region did not happen because no one, except representatives from the media turned up for the event.
LPM leader and presidential candidate, Bernadus Swartbooi, was expected to address the community of Oniipa, but when the media arrived at the venue they were told that what was happening was closed-door “strategic meeting”.
Changing what initially announced as the public rally into a last minute “closed door meeting” caused immediate negative reaction on social media.
The following are some examples of posts on social media platforms:
“U finally came to your senses oumes…. U need Wambo votes to make it to parliament… Remember not to mention names, concentrate on playing the ball not the man…”
“We’re not ready for you.”
“LPM is an anti-Aawambo party. Who will listen to their hate speech?”
“Do they think we already forgot or what tseki they must go somewhere else but not at north”.
When approached for comment, Swartbooi’s phone went unanswered.
