THE 28-year-old Romeo Kangulu died while fleeing naked from a gang of robbers that attacked him and his older brother like a pack of hyenas near the cemetery in the Mondesa suburb of Swakopmund during the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the two brothers were on their way home from a local bar when they were attacked by the group of teenaged gangsters at 01:00 on the corner of Mandume Ndemufayo and Amagus Street.
“Kangulu was severely assaulted during the attack the gang of robbers. They overpowered the two brothers and stole their clothes and shoes as well as their mobile phones. His brother managed to break free from his attackers and rescued the younger Kangulu from the attacking gangsters.”
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said the two robbery victims ran in different directions to get away from the robbery gang. The older brother managed o get home and waited for his younger brother to also make it home.
“Kangulu’s lifeless body was discovered at around 05:45 by a passerby lying in front a house in Mandume Ndemufayo Street not far from where the brothers were attacked and robbed. The person who discovered the body notified the police. It is suspected that Kanulu succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the attack.”
