GOOD rains the eastern, central and northern areas of Namibia are once again raising hopes that the devastating drought, that has a death grip on the country, might be at an end.
Although no official measurements are available people living in Tsumkwe reported that rain has been falling in the area since Thursday evening. According to the report the rain continued throughout Friday.
Resident of Gobabis has also reported good showers on Friday and so has people living to the east of Windhoek at places like Omitara, Kappsfarm and Finckenstein.
Thick clouds has been building over Windhoek throughout the day while residents of Okahandja and Karibib also reported that rain is possible over their areas. Light showers were reported towards Omaruru.
Rain was also reported at places between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo and in the town of Otjiwarongo itself.
Continuous rain has been reported in the area of Otavi since the early morning hours of Friday.
Further to the north, people in Oshakati and Ondangwa also reported that rain fell in their area on Friday afternoon. Good rainfall received in the areas of Oshikoto and Oshana Regions during the afternoon hours.
Good rainfall was also received in the Oshikoto and Oshana Regions earlier on Friday afternoon. Farmers from the areas of Omuthiya up to Oshakati said that they expect more rainfall in the coming days.
