Namibia beats Bermuda with six runs

THE Namibian cricket team beat their counterparts from Bermuda with six runs and seven overs to spare in their second group stage victory in a row at the 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Dubai.


After winning the toss the Namibian opted to field first giving their opponents the chance to set a target for them to chase.


The men from Bermuda made 106 runs with the 120 balls delivered by Namibian bowlers. Bermuda sacrificed nine batsmen in the 20 overs.
The second innings saw the Namibians batting fiercely which meant that they lost four batsmen but quickly came to within reach of the 106 run target they were chasing.

At the start of the 13th over the Namibians stood at 105 runs and when the first ball was delivered, skipper Gerhard Erasmus knocked it for a six giving the team 111 runs and a victory.


Niko Davin racked up 37 runs earlier in the match. His batting was the highlight of the chase.


On Tuesday Namibia scored their first group stage victory against Scotland. They won the match with 24 runs.


The Namibians was slow to get out of the block and on the group log. The latest victory means that they now have four points in the group log.
They lost their first two group stage matches against the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.


The Namibians are scheduled to play Kenya on Friday and Singapore on Saturday. The match against Singapore will be the last group stage match before the start of the knock-out stage of the tournament on Tuesday.
