THE Namibian national cricket team won their first group stage match against Scotland at the 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Dubai with 24 runs.
After opting to bowl first the Namibians used the 20 overs at their disposal to rack up 159 runs while losing six of the batsmen in the process.
When they took to the field in the second innings they had their hands full to defend their lead. They managed to subdue the men from Scotland with excellent bowling and fielding work.
Scotland lost eight batsmen and the constant pressure from Namibia only allowed them to make 135 runs.
Namibia went into the tournament as one of the favourites but got off to a slow start after losing their first two group stage matches against the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.
The victory over Scotland means that Namibia finally has two points on the group log.
They will face Bermuda in their next match in Dubai.
