THE Namibia Premier League’s ordinary congress has rejected the FIFA appointed Normalisation Committee’s directive to promote Orlando Pirates and Civics back into the 2019/20 season league.
NPL’s spokesperson Andre Gariseb, who confirmed the announcement, said that during yesterday’s meeting, NPL did not received submissions from any of the 13 clubs members to amend the NPL constitution that will enable the two relegated teams to return to the league.
He also said that yesterday’s meeting had four agenda points which were admission of newly promoted teams, the approval of the annual financial statement for the 2018/19 season and the approval of the budget of the 2019/20 season.
The meeting that took place yesterday required club members to submit proposals for amending the constitution.
“Congress did not receive any submission from the NPL club members who were present at yesterday’s meeting, therefore, congress has resolved not to admit the teams back into the NPL 2019/20 season,” he said.
Gariseb added that, as from the 1 November, the NPL will kick off with Black Africa, African Stars, Tura Magic, Life Fighters, UNAM, Mighty Gunners, Julinho, Young Brazilians, Tigers, Blue Waters, Eleven Arrows, Okahandja United and Citizens.
