POLICE said that the man suspected of murdering his live-in girlfriend with an axe before setting alight their shack still has not appeared in court as he is still receiving medical care under the watchful eye of the police.
Namibia Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, said that the man is not yet fit to appear in court as he is still has to be cleared by a medical doctor after sustaining numerous burns while torching the shack.
The suspect, who cannot be named until he appears in court, on Sunday early morning, killed his girlfriend, 38-year-old Katrina Kasita, following an argument and burned her shack with her body inside in an attempt to cover up his crime.
Kasita’s family member said they are failing to trace the suspect’s family as they need compensation to make funeral arrangements for their loved one.
The community of Namibia Nalitungwe Informal settlement in the Wanaheda policing area gathered on Tuesday to organise themselves for a protest when the 35-year-old suspect appears in court.
Kasita’s family noted that since the incident occurred they haven’t received any apology from the suspect or his family.
“We expecting cooperation from his family to help us with funeral arrangement because the body needs to be transported from Windhoek to the north for burial,” said a relative.
