THE Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare has announced a delay in the payment of Social Grants which include old age pension and disability grants administered by the ministry due to another system failure.
Chief Public Relations Officer Lot Ndamanomahata said that recipients who receive their grants through banks will experience a delay.
Ndamanomahata said that the payments are usually processed on the first Thursday of every month; however, the ministry experienced a system failure.
“The Ministry deeply regrets this delay and technical difficulties that are being caused by System Errors,” he said.
He added that the ministry and the Bank of Namibia are hard at work addressing the system errors and technical difficulties and that the money should be available later this afternoon to the respective beneficiaries who receive their grants through the banks.
“The ministry wishes to inform the social grants recipients who receive their grants through cash payment at pay points and NAMPOST that they will receive their grants as they usually do and to note that cash payments have not been affected and that payments for NAMPOST have also been made but only those who receive their grants through the banks are affected by this technical difficulties,” he explained.
