WOMEN who sell fruit on the streets of the central business district of Windhoek found the body of a homeless persone arlier on Wednesday close to where they pursue their trade.
The deceased man was well known amongst the street vendors and was last seen alive on Tuesday. The women told Informanté that the homeless man usually sleeps in a small storage room under the building of the Ministry of Finance.
The Emergency Services of the City of Windhoek was alerted when the women discovered the motionless body of the man inside the old storage space. Paramedics of the Windhoek Fire Brigade determined that the man was dead and contacted the Namibian Police.
“The man suffers from epilepsy. He stayed here and refuses to go home even after his family came to get him. We suspect he suffered a seizure and that he died,” an employee of the finance ministry said.
The Namibian Police removed the remains of the deceased person and detectives on the scene indicated that a post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the actual cause of the man’s death.
