Kalundu Kamwi was today appointed to represent the 48-year-old Nikodemus by the Directorate of Legal aid. Nikodemus on Tuesday dismissed his lawyer Vernon Litubezi right after he was found guilty on two murder charges and a charge of defeating the course of justice in connection with the double murder of Clemencia de Wee and Johanie Naruses with whom he at the time was romantically involved.
Throughout his trial, Nikodemus was represented by Mbanga Siyomundji, who withdrew from the matter because of Nikodemus’ unattainable instructions.
Kamwi will now represent the convicted person during the process of last submissions of mitigation and until he is sentenced.
Nikodemus in January 2016 left a bar in Katutura with Naruses (29) and de Wee (23) where-after he shot them in his car which has since been forfeited to the state. The indictment further alleges that he dumped the deceased bodies at a cemetery refuse site in Windhoek’s Pionierspark, before setting them on fire, in an attempt to defeat the course of justice.
A security guard discovered the smoldering remains the following morning.
The now convicted murderer denied any involvement in the murder of his girlfriends, saying he was at home at the time of their demise. A sim card and a burnt cellphone, however, linked Nikodemus to the crime scene.
