No more school admission will be done in January

OSHANA Regional education director, Hileni Amukana, said that all school admission procedures should be completed by October this year and that no school in Oshana will be allowed to admit any child when the new school year starts in January 2020.
Amukana, made the remarks during the launching of admission of learners for 2020 campaign held in Oshakati on Monday.
According to Amukana, the campaign is aimed at ensuring that no child is left behind.
“This campaign is not a mere activity that we undertake as a directorate, but an important undertaking towards the realization of the SDG Goal 4,” cited Amukana.
Amukana stated that the advocacy campaign is based on the premise that no child should be left behind, as education is a critical stakeholder on achieving the 17 SDG.
“Education 2030 calls for inclusive quality education for, so we should strive to ensure that all children at school going age should be in school in the region,” stated Amukana.
She called on parents to ensure that their children are placed and if not to approach the director or circuit offices by end of October.
Oshana governor, Elia Irimari, in a speech read on his behalf, stated that they are experiencing an influx of people from rural areas flocking to urban Centres and they are coming with school going children.
“So far about 105 learners were listed as transferred during the first term of 2019,” said Irimari.
He urged parents to voluntarily support schools to acquire the latest teaching and learning aids for the betterment of the quality of education.
Irimari noted that government is doing its best to bear the huge cost of education, but also stated that education is a shared responsibility and an investment for the future.
