According to Oshana police Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Hilya Haipumbu, the first incident occurred at around 09:00.
“It is alleged that the deceased was trying to commit suicide by harming himself first and then falling into the canal where he eventually died.”
Deputy Commissioner Haipumbu said members of the public saw the deceased clothes abandoned near the canal, before notifying the Women and Men network who later informed the police.
She said the deceased was living in the Ompumbu Location at the time of his death and that a post mortem examination will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the Oshana Regional police spokesperson Warrant Officer Frieda Shikole, the second incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at around 16:40, in a pond at the Okalevona location near the railway.
“The body was discovered by a member of the public who alerted the police,” said Shikole.
Shikole said the deceased person was resident of the Oluhozu Village in the Oniipa area.
