THE 43-year-old Johnny Owos-Aob is set to appear in the Usakos Magistrate’s Court after he killed the 30-year-old Rodney Job during a brawl over an alleged stolen cellphone.
According to the official police report provided by the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the victim and the suspect were drinking together in a bar at the Spitzkoppe settlement.
It is alleged that the victim requested a cellphone from the Owos-Aob to make a call and thereafter disappeared with the device.
The suspect attacked the victim after he went searching for him. The suspect punched and kicked him until he fell on the ground and died.
According to the report the victim normally lives in Windhoek and that he was visiting the Spitzkoppe settlement for the weekend.
Jobs’ remains was taken to the Usakos State Mortuary and will later be transported to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for post mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
In a separate incident at the Vilakazi Lounge in the Kuisebmond neighbourhood of Walvis Bay early on Sunday morning the 18-year-old Victor Xoagub who was visiting the harbour town from Windhoek died after he was stabbed to death during an argument.
It is alleged that the deceased person and a friend were drinking at the club with his friend when an unknown man bumped into one of the two young men. Xoagub’s friend and the other person apparently apologised to each other and the confrontation ended.
However, the deceased confronted the man who bumped into his friend who then called two of his friends over to where the argument ensued. A brawl ensued during which the victim was stabbed.
According to the police report the deceased person was stabbed at least three times in the chest area. He was taken to the Walvis Bay State hospital by his friends but he died on the way.
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said the suspects are well known to the police but that they have not been arrested yet.
