Winter Knights collects for charity

Staff Reporter
RESIDENTS of Windhoek, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay were once again asked for the spare change they had with them when teams from different businesses and institutions stood at major traffic intersections for the annual Winter Knights charity drive.
The Round Table in conjunction with other project partners saw Namibian’s give generously for the sake of charity.
The initiative forms part of a charity drive being staged across the southern African region, from Durban to Swakopmund. The Round Table invites Namibian companies to make their presence felt every winter by supporting the campaign by buying an intersection in Windhoek, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Companies usually make use of the opportunity to brand their specific intersection with company logos to show that they take social responsibility seriously.
At the intersections, people were asked to make donations of spare money or to donate old clothes or blankets for those Namibians who are less fortunate.
Namibian motorists again proved to be exceptionally generous and supportive of this great non profit charity project that started in June 2006 and has grown from strength to strength over the years.
Cash donations could also be made via PayToday or by messaging WINTER to 5005 at N$5.00 per sms, which proved to be very successful, for those motorists opting to go this route.
