New Zealand won their opening One Day International match of the 2019 Cricket world Cup against Sri Lanka in under 17 overs.
Sri Lanka’s inning needed when all their batsmen were eliminated in the 30th over leaving New Zealand to chase 137 runs for the win.
The Kiwis managed to get 137 runs with only their opening batsmen in the second quickest inning of the tournament so far. The West Indies thrashed Pakistan in fewer than 14 overs during the second match of the tournament.
The third fixture of the 2019 Cricket World Cup was one of two matches played on Saturday on the Sophia Gardens grounds in Cardiff after the Kiwis started as the clear favourites in their opener against 1996 champions.
The second clash of the double header match day is currently underway between the current Cricket Word Cup champions, Australia and Afghanistan.
