THE Namibian cricket men’s team suffered a shocking defeat after losing out to USA in its second match of the ICC World Cricket League Division 2.
Namibia is the hosting team for the ICC world cricket league division 2 qualifier tournament.
USA won the match by 2 runs, leaving Namibia currently sitting second place with two points on the log standing, while Oman is leading on four points.
Namibia won its opening match against Papa New Guinea by three wickets at the Wanderers cricket sport ground.
Muhammad Ali was named USA player of the match and commented that the team put in great effort despite Namibia being a tough opponent.
“First of all, it was a great team effort and I am glad we came out on top. It was a tough game, it came down to the last minute of the came and we are happy with the win,” he said.
Namibia Head Coach, Pierre de Bruyn, said: “We’ve played two games – won one and lost one, there is still a lot of cricket to be played in this tournament. We need to improve in certain areas and we will. The guys gave their best. It was a close game and we need to bounce back.”
